Our Bagno di Romagna - Cattolica tour starts here:
We meet in the hotel in the afternoon after you have settled into your room - a welcome drink awaits us.
Later we can get to know each other better over dinner and have a brief introductory briefing on the e-bike tour we will enjoy over the coming week!
Once on our bikes, we set off! We follow the provincial road that leads to Tuscany, heading towards Monte Fumaiolo, famous for being the source of the River Tiber that crosses the whole of central Italy and flows down as far as Rome.
We stop in the characteristic Rifugio Biancaneve for a coffee break and then continue our first day on our e-bikes by pedalling along a beautiful and incredibly picturesque path through a woodland of beech and fir trees.
We cycle from the Rifugio Giuseppe up to the Rifugio Moia ... and then we are back on the road until we reach our next stop at the Agriturismo Le Gualchiere for a quick lunch at, based on Romagna’s typical food and wines.
If you do not yet know our region’s cuisine this week will be a real eye-opener! You will taste traditional recipes of incredible flavour and rich aroma, and this first lunch will be a real ... eno-gastronomic initiation! Yum!
On Monday morning we leave (you will be as fresh as a rose!) from Santa Sofia and cycle along the river park to reach the Water Museum in Ridracoli.
The Ridracoli reservoir is a source of great pride to Romagna’s inhabitants, a place where engineering, environmental sustainability and nature blend perfectly. It offers bright, colourful views ... so do not miss the chance to take some pictures in the best spots!
We stop here for a visit and then head towards the Rifugio Ca' di Sopra to enjoy a hearty, typical lunch.
If the water level behind the dam is high enough, we can take a boat trip to the wonderful Sasso Frattino Forest, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
It's already Tuesday! We have breakfast and leave to cover the first stage of the day to Colle di Corzano, where we admire the ramparts of the ancient Castello dei Guidi and the Sanctuary. We then descend to San Piero and cycle along the dirt road to the Agriturismo Ca 'di Gianni and from there towards the Lungo and Pontini lakes, where we will stop for a drink!
Our ride continues through a forest of chestnut trees and along a dirt road that takes us under the summit of Monte Comero, where we will allow ourselves some time to contemplate the mountain ridges that divide Romagna from Tuscany and part of the famous National Park of Casentino Forests.
We mount our bikes to make our way back to the hotel ... Don’t worry, I'm not forgetting lunch! We will stop on the way to enjoy the excellent cuisine of "Il Toscano" in Acquapartita..
We set off early in the morning (without our bikes!) to visit Bertinoro: the city of hospitality, wine and a truly authentic Italian town, a real gem!
After visiting the town centre, where you can admire one of the most extraordinary views of our region, the "Terrace of Romagna", we will go to the Tenuta Diavoletto, where they are expecting us for a quick lunch and a tasting of their best wines.
Wednesday ends with the transfer to the Hotel Ancora in Cattolica, where we have dinner.
After our move, you will immediately notice a change in the landscape: from the hills of Tuscan Romagna we can now admire the sea.
We start the second part of our tour riding along a beautiful scenic route overlooking the coast and reach Gradara, where we will visit the walls of the town’s famous castle.
In 2018, this beautiful jewel set on the border with the Marches was awarded the title of the Most Beautiful Small Town in Italy!
Let's face it... San Marino needs no introduction! The last leg of our tour takes us to this famed destination: a mysterious location that is rich in history, with amazing landscapes and the perfect place to pick up a souvenir.
For lunch, we will stop on a terrace from which you can admire a view that encapsulates the perfect harmony between the sea and hills, in the heart of the historic centre of San Marino, which was included among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2008.
The last trip back to our hotel is… all downhill!
We have breakfast and it is time to return home!
We hope that thanks to this tour, you have fallen in love with Romagna, a land of hospitality, good food, natural wonders, history and culture.
We look forward to seeing you on your next e-bike trip!
It is possible to arrange a transfer to Bologna Airport upon request.
